ECZ URGES STAKEHOLDERS TO RAISE AWARENESS ON CRV

THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has urged electoral players to encourage eligible citizens to take advantage of the Continuous Registration of Voters (CRV) to register as voters.

ECZ Director of Electoral Operations Royd Katongo says stakeholders must take a leading role in raising awareness in their respective communities about the exercise.

Mr Katongo made the remarks during a stakeholder engagement meeting in Mporokoso District ahead of the launch of the Continuous Voter Registration on Tuesday in 10 additional districts.

Mr Katongo said the commission seeks to ensure all eligible voters obtain voter’s cards in line with their constitutional rights.

Meanwhile, Northern Province Electoral Officer Alfred Nyambose disclosed that the registration of voters is important in having successful elections at all levels.

Earlier, Acting Mporokoso District Electoral Officer Hildah Kasonde called for collaborative efforts to ensure the success of the continuous voter registration exercise.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia launched the Continuous Registration of Voters on June 1, 2022 in provincial capitals and has been rolling out to other towns.
