ECZ SETS 26 JUNE FOR LUMEZI PARLIAMENTARY BY-ELECTION.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has set June 26, 2025, as the date for the Lumezi by-election.
According to a statement by ECZ Corporate Affairs Manager Patricia Luhanga seen by Breeze FM, nominations for the election will be conducted on May 27, 2025.
The by-election will be held alongside ward by-elections in Fibalala Ward of Milenge District and Tuuwa Ward of Sikongo District.
The Lumezi by-election has been necessitated by the conviction of the incumbent Independent Member of Parliament for Lumezi Constituency, Munir Zulu.
On April 7, the Lusaka Magistrate Court convicted and sentenced Zulu to 12 months’ imprisonment with hard labour for defaming Cabinet Ministers Charles Milupi and Situmbeko Musokotwane.
