ECZ CLEARS AIR ON CANDIDATE WITHDRAWAL
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says it has not received any official communication from Democratic Union (DU) presidential candidate Ackim Njobvu indicating that he has withdrawn from the August 13, 2026, General Election.
ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro said the law is clear that even if a presidential candidate withdraws, the Commission will proceed with the printing of ballot papers once the process has commenced.
Mr. Kasaro said the printing of presidential ballot papers officially began today, June 30, 2026.
