DOING THE RIGHT THING EVEN WHEN NO ONE IS WATCHING – PS KAWANA

Today, Information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana officiated at the Ministry of Information and Media’s Conflict of Interest Workshop in Chilanga district.



Below are  the highlights:

✅️ The meeting is aimed at developing tools meant to equip the Integrity committee in the Ministry to effectively fight and prevent corruption within the Ministry.

✅️ The Conflict of Interest Policy is a very important instrument in mainstreaming the fight against corruption.



✅️ Once developed, the policy will help the Ministry to continue upholding integrity, Transparency and ethical standards.

✅️ The policy will also serve as a basis for the commitment of the Ministry in maintaining public trust and confidence.

✅️ Commended the Ministry’s Integrity Committee for the corruption preventions put in place so far.



✅️ The Committee has been consistent in developing annual corruption prevention action plans which have been guiding the committe’s works.



✅️ The Committee has also developed and launched the Ministry’s Gift and Benefit policy, drafted the Whistle blower policy , code of ethics and the integrity committee brochure.



✅️ The Permanent Secretary has since urged the integrity committee to always abide by the meaning of the word ‘intergrity’ which is: ” Doing the right thing even when no one is watching.”
