COPPERBELT UPND URGES VOTERS TO RETAIN RULING PARTY IN AUGUST ELECTIONS TO SUSTAIN DEVELOPMENT
By Justina Matandiko
The UPND on the Copperbelt has called on voters in the province to retain the ruling party in office in order to sustain development gains ahead of the August 13 general elections.
Speaking when the party officially launched its campaign during a “meet your candidate” event held in Kitwe yesterday, former Mines Minister and Chililabombwe Constituency candidate Paul Kabuswe said the party has delivered significant progress in the mining sector, which remains the backbone of the province’s economy.
Mr. Kabuswe cited increased investment in mining, the revival of operations at key mines, and efforts to create employment opportunities as some of the achievements recorded under the UPND administration.
He told party supporters that the progress made over the past five years should be consolidated through a renewed mandate, adding that government has laid a foundation for continued economic growth and development.
Mr. Kabuswe further urged Copperbelt residents to support UPND candidates at all levels, saying the party remains committed to improving livelihoods and expanding development programmes across the province.
