Cleo Ice Queen takes Berlin stage

ZAMBIA’S hip-hop icon and reality TV star Cleo Ice Queen is making her mark at the prestigious silver screening of the 2026 Berlin Music Video Awards in Germany.

The “I Am Her” singer is among a number of creatives making a presence at this year’s Berlin Music Video Awards happening from June 11 to June 13 at Club Gretchen.

The event is an annual international independent festival dedicated to celebrating visual artists and the artists behind the videos.

Bridging the gap between film festivals, fashion shows, and nightlife gatherings, the event highlights both underground creators and famous artists from more than 50 countries across the globe.

The exclusive Silver Screening category highlights exceptional music videos from around the world that deliver powerful, impactful messages.

Born Clementina Mulenga, Cleo Ice Queen’s selection underscores the international depth, cultural richness, and storytelling power of Zambian music.

Announcing her presence on the global stage, the artiste said: “I am incredibly honoured to announce that my music video, I Am Her, has been officially selected for screening at the Berlin Music Video Awards 2026 under the Silver Screenings category.”

“Zambia will be represented on a global creative stage alongside filmmakers, directors, producers, artists and storytellers from around the world,” said Cleo.

“As I write this, my team and I have been receiving the Zambian embassy in Berlin, Germany, carrying not only a film, but a story of resilience, ambition, creativity and the limitless potential of Zambian talent.”

“This moment is bigger than me. It is a celebration of what is possible when dreams meet preparation, faith and the support of people and institutions willing to believe in a vision.”

The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts through the National Arts Council facilitated logistics in terms of air tickets for Cleo and her entourage to Berlin, with the Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) showering praises on the government for the gesture.

“An achievement of this magnitude highlights the power of a united creative front… ZAM extends its profound gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Zambia.”

“This vital sponsorship is a shining example of the government’s trust in the association, its recognition of the creative sector’s economic potential, and its dedication to pushing Zambian art across borders,” said ZAM spokesperson Edmond Miti.
