…as CF party moves to sideline roving politician

ROVING politician Chishimba Kabwili is facing a potential political sidelining and dismissal from the Citizens First (CF) party after publicly telling a political rally in Luanshya that they are free to support Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance presidential candidate Brian Mundubile.

Mr Kambwili had said although he was contesting the parliamentary seat on Harry Kalaba’s Citizens First ticket, voters should choose whichever opposition leader had the numbers to remove the UPND Government.

“If you think that Harry Kalaba can deliver, vote for him. If it’s Brian Mundubile who can deliver, go ahead. if you want you can vote for him,” he said.

Internal sources within Citizens First revealed that party leadership was moving to expel or fire Mr Kambwili for anti-party activities and promoting a rival presidential candidate.

This development had heightened friction within the opposition ahead of the August 2026 general elections.

While Kalaba previously welcomed broader strategic alliances, Mr Kambwili’s open dismissal of strict party lines at an official CF event had been flagged as a major internal betrayal.

Mr Kambwili said defeating the ruling party was more important than strict party loyalty.

He explicitly joined and endorsed Citizens First president Harry Kalaba just weeks prior.

Giving a platform to Mr Mundubile—the presidential candidate for the NRPUP/PF faction—while running as a CF candidate  was viewed within the party as a serious breach of discipline.

If expelled, Mr Kambwili’s status as the CF parliamentary candidate for Roan Constituency would be thrown into immediate legal and political chaos
