BEES GOES FOR HICHILEMA’S POLITICAL RALLY IN LUANSHYA’S MPATAMATU TOWNSHIP

A SWAM of bees yesterday disrupted a UPND rally that was held at Mpatamatu Stadium in Luanshya addressed by President Hakainde Hichilema and other senior party officials.

Carders and and residentsbof Mpatamatu gathered early waiting for President Hichilema who they said has fulfilled his promise to bring to life Shaft 28 mine in Luanshya’s Roan Constituency after a longtime of being closed because of flooding.

About US $500 million has been pumped into dewatering of the mine by CNMC and the mine has been abandoned for the last 23 years.

CNMC is also the parent mining company of NFCA in Chambishi and LCM in Luanshya run by Chinese investors.

On his arrival with senior party officials, President Hichilema went round the stadium while the crowd continued jubilations with placards thanking him, “job well done bally, takuli naumbi” some of the messages reads.

After settling down and introductions done by Copperbelt Province Minister Elisha Matambo were done, Amargedone began in the with bees stinging officials and others 50 meters from where the President was.

This caused panic in the tent as military officers and the special branch mounted walls to protect the President from the bees, while other people were seen taking undercover laying down.

Others started falling around in panic while others scampered in different directions as bees stung, while councillors fled leaving the tent empty.

While this was happening, President Hichilema sat unshaken in his presidential chair, while the security detail encircled the tent.

The northern side of the stadium was nearly empty.

When the situation got tense, State House security led by deputy Inspector General of police Fanwell Siandenge moved President Hichilema to the motorcade where he waited for calm.

At this time the fire brigade and other were dispersing the bees by putting fire behind the VVIP tent.

At exactly 17:53 hours, President Hichilema returned to the tent and went straight to address the people before he left for Ndola.

President Hichilema asked people of pantamatu for patience and more time to fix what he called a broken economy he found.
