ARMY WORMS STRIKE CHIKANKATA
FALL Army Worms have invaded maize fields in Chikankata District.
And Chikankata District Agriculture Coordinator, Dr. Phanuel Nyimba, has disclosed that all 24 Agriculture blocks have been affected.
Nyimba who confirmed the development to Byta FM News has described the situation as worrying, explaining that the pests have mostly affected maize that has grown up to knee level.
He says the Ministry of Agriculture in the District has distributed chemicals that had remained from last year’s farming season, however noting the need for more if the situation is to be successfully contained.
