archbishop Emmanuel Milingo is free to travel

FORMER Roman Catholic archbishop Emmanuel Milingo is free to travel.

Yesterday, the Department of Immigration at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka refused to clear the 93 year old former priest to leave the country following concerns from his family.

Archbishop Milingo was scheduled to leave the country for South Korea in company of his South Korean wife.

In a statement, Immigration public relations officer Namati Nshinka said the decision to deny the former archbishop was based on information received from his family members.

“In keeping with our mandate of facilitating and regulating the movement of persons into and out of the country, the decision to deny the former Archbishop exit is based on confidential information received by the Department from his immediate family members. Effectively, we have instituted investigations into the matter,” he said.

And today, the Department has released the passport to archbishop Milingo.Mr Nshinka confirmed the release of the passport to former Catholic priest.

“I can confirm the release of his passport,” Mr Nshinka confirmed in an interview.
