Anti-Illegal Immigration Activist Vows to Shut Down All Foreign-Run Churches Within 12 Months If Given Power
Nkosikhona “Phakelumthakathi” Ndabandaba, a well-known actor and traditional leader, has made a bold declaration that has ignited fierce debate across South Africa. In a viral video statement, Ndabandaba promised to close every foreign-owned and foreign-run church operating in the country within one year should he ascend to political office.
“All foreign churches will be shut down in SA. Just thank God I am not in power because if I get a little bit of power, I will stop all this nonsense,” he declared.
This announcement comes amid ongoing government restrictions that have effectively blocked foreign pastors from obtaining work and residence permits. It also follows high-profile corruption investigations, with the Special Investigating Unit confirming that controversial figures such as Shepherd Bushiri and Timothy Omotoso secured their South African residency through fraudulent documentation.
Ndabandaba has also called for a three-day mountain prayer session from 19 to 21 June, intended to prevent potential violence ahead of his proposed 30 June 2026 deportation deadline for undocumented foreigners. He frames his campaign as a necessary measure to protect South African sovereignty, cultural integrity, and national security.
The proposal has drawn sharp reactions from religious leaders, human rights organisations, and legal experts who warn that such actions could violate constitutional protections on religious freedom and fair administrative justice. Others, however, have voiced support, citing frustration over the exploitation of religious visas and the lack of regulatory oversight on foreign ministries.
As the country edges closer to the 2026 timeline, all eyes remain on government response and the growing influence of grassroots movements challenging immigration and religious policies.
