A PARTY MAY LEAVE THE BALLOT BUT NOT THE PEOPLES’ HEARTS

In this article, we take a look at the Patriotic Front…what next?

From the onset, we would to state that no one should make the mistake of thinking that the Patriotic Front (PF) disappeared simply because it is facing political or legal setbacks.

The PF is more than a ballot symbol, it is a political memory. It is history. This is a movement that still lives in the hearts of the people who not only built it, supported it and ensured that its message was carried across Zambia.

From Michael Chilufya Sata’s determination to the leadership of Dr Guy Scott, Edgar Chagwa Lungu and Given Lubinda, right through the countless MPs, Councilors, cadres and ordinary citizens who stood with the movement, to ensure that the PF became part of Zambian political story.

From an observer’s point of view, we note that court may decide what appears on a ballot paper. Political circumstances may change, leaders may move in different directions but we can only assure you that no court ruling can order people to forget what they experienced, believed in or fought for, in PF.

The ballot can change. The political landscape can change. History, yes history remains and the memories of PF remain alive in the hearts of its people.

From an analytical point, It is safe to state that the PF’s story is not yet over. At least, not because someone says so.

PF lost elections in 2021 and has been stopped from being on the 2026 ballot. It’s not a secret that it continues facing tough times, but we would to assure you that, a party that has entered the hearts and memories of its people cannot simply be erased.

The PF will always be a part of Zambia’s political history which will not be defined by ballots alone.

More like, “from the ashes, a phoenix rises”
