The minister of energy, Hon. Makozo Chikote MP, has disclosed that Maamba Collieries Limited is scheduled to undertake mandatory maintenance commencing at the end of August 2024 and continuing into September 2024. An exercise will cause an extra power deficit of 135 MW for the month of September 2024, which in turn will increase hours of loadshedding.
The minister said this during the media briefing held at energy regulation board offices this morning.
