TAXI DRIVER LOSES VEHICLE WHILE WATCHING LIVE PERFORMANCE

A transporter who operates between the Choma and Mazabuka route has had his Toyota Noah vehicle stolen after he parked it outside Lee-Love Night Club in Choma on 31st December, 2023.

The report of theft was made at Choma Police Station on 2nd January, 2024 by driver of the vehicle, Winfred Simukuza of Mazabuka’s Appolo Compound on behalf of Francis Mwansa of the same abode.

Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, explains that on the material day after dropping the last passengers in Choma, Simukuza parked at Lee-Love Night Club.

Daka says after the driver parked, he went inside the club to watch the live performance by musician, Yo-maps, while drinking some beers.

At the end of the music performance, the driver went outside and found that the vehicle, registration number, BAD 1152, silver in colour and valued at K65,000, was missing.

Daka notes that the missing vehicle was modified such that it could be driven even without keys by just connecting the cables to start the engine.

He says at first, the driver thought it was just taken by his colleagues as it is normally a trend among taxi drivers, hence going to sleep hoping that whoever took it would be back the following day.

However, on 1st January, 2024 when the vehicle was not returned and, after a fruitless search, he then decided to report the matter to the Police.

Daka says acting on the report, a docket of the case has been opened, adding that other details of the said vehicle that include engine and chassis numbers are only known by the owner who has since been contacted.
