UKA praises police for facilitating peaceful rally
THE United Kwacha Alliance (UKA) has commended the Zambia Police Service for their conduct during the Citizens First political party rally held in Kitwe on Saturday.
In a statement released by UKA chairperson Sakwiba Sikota, the party lauded the police for acknowledging the constitutional rights of Zambians to assemble and associate freely.
Sikota emphasised that the recent rally generally demonstrated the peaceful nature of Zambians and highlighted the positive impact of the police’s non-interference.
Sikota also noted that the police refrained from interfering with church services attended by several UKA presidents in Ndola and Kitwe on the Sunday following the rally.
“The rally of the Citizens First political party in Kitwe was a testament to the peaceful disposition of Zambians,” Sikota stated.
“We commend the Kitwe Police Command for their professionalism and for allowing citizens to exercise their constitutional rights.”
