HH Tells New MPs to Deliver as He Promises Development Support in Monze
President Hakainde Hichilema has challenged Members of Parliament elected in the August 2026 elections to understand that their role goes beyond simply occupying seats in Parliament.
Speaking at the Samu Lya Moomba Traditional Ceremony of Chief Choongo in Monze on Sunday, President Hichilema said MPs must work hard and deliver on the promises made to the people who elected them
The President also pledged to use proceeds from his own ranching business to purchase a pontoon requested by traditional leaders, while Government will work on roads and other infrastructure in the area.
HH further spoke about electricity generation, livestock development, Zambia’s ambition to reach US$1 billion in beef exports, preparations for possible El Niño conditions and outstanding payments to farmers.
The President’s message comes as questions remain over what he means by being “tough” in his new term and whether the commitments made at Samu Lya Moomba will translate into visible development on the ground.
