The Government has confirmed a fatal helicopter crash in Marondera Rural that killed all six people on board.
Government spokesperson Nick Mangwana said the aircraft was carrying a high-profile businessman, three other passengers and two pilots, with no survivors reported.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police separately confirmed that the aircraft crashed in the Marondera Rural area at about 5pm on Wednesday, saying six people were on board.
“The ZRP confirms a plane crash in Marondera Rural area at 1700 hours, this evening. The aircraft had six occupants,” police said in a statement posted on X.
Police said more details would be released in due course as officers and other emergency personnel attend to the crash scene.
Mangwana said the identities of the victims would be confirmed by the Zimbabwe Republic Police once the necessary procedures had been completed
The Government extended its deepest condolences and prayers to the victims’ families, friends and colleagues following the tragedy.
Further details on the circumstances surrounding the crash and the identities of those who died are expected as investigations continue.
