KITWE CBD GRIPPED BY CHAOS AS MOBILE MONEY OPERATORS, BUS DRIVERS FACE ALLEGED POLITICAL VICTIMISATION.
Business in Kitwes Central Business District came to a standstill as some people perceived to have supported NRPUP leader Brian Mundubile in last weeks election were told to stop operating and vacate their trading spaces.
Some mobile money operators in Kitwe have alleged that they have been stopped from operating in the CBD as a way of cleansing those who were inclined to NRPUP
They stormed Radio Icengelo’s main studios alleging that a person they identified as a UPND cadre, known as Champe or commonly known as Town One ordered them to remove their tables and chairs and stop operating in town.
They alleged that they were told to leave because they did not vote for President Hakainde Hichilema in the August 13 elections.
Meanwhile some bus drivers perceived to have supported NRPUP were denied to load this morning, the move which generated into confusion.
It had to take Zambia Army to come in to restore order following the clash.
And when contacted by Radio Icengelo News, UPND Kitwe District Chairperson Alex Mwango said the alleged actions by individuals claiming to be UPND cadres do not have the blessings of the party, either at district or national level.
Efforts to contact Kitwe Town Clerk Patrick Kambita proved futile by broadcast time.
