LUSAKA & COPPERBELT HAVE SPOKEN — UPND SHOULD BE WORRIED!
The massive voter turnout in Lusaka and the Copperbelt is more than an election statistic. It is a political warning shot to the UPND.
These are Zambia’s biggest urban and industrial voting blocs. And when voters in these areas turn out in such numbers, it signals one thing: people are determined to have their voices heard.
The emerging turnout pattern strongly points to an anti-incumbent wave.
Remember 2011.
Remember 2021.
In both elections, Zambians demonstrated a simple truth: no Government is too powerful to be removed by the ballot.
In 2021, the PF was the incumbent and was defeated after enormous opposition mobilisation.
Today, UPND is the incumbent.
It is clear that the same electoral forces that swept an incumbent out of power in 2021 are now gathering against UPND.
Lusaka and the Copperbelt’s above 70% turnout, as the emerging figures suggest, certainly translates into overwhelming Mundubile votes which will make the electoral arithmetic extremely difficult for the President Hichilema to overcome.
And here is the uncomfortable question for UPND:
What happens when your strongest opponents turn out in record numbers while your traditional strongholds record unusually low participation?
That is how Governments lose elections.
Not through slogans.
Not through intimidation.
Not through manufactured figures.
Through the ballot box.
The people have turned out.
The urban centres have spoken.
Now let the votes be counted exactly as cast.
No manipulation. No cooking of figures. No rewriting the people’s verdict.
