DUDUZANE ZUMA APPOINTED MK PARTY FIRST DEPUTY PRESIDENT, MEANING FORMER PRESIDENT JACOB ZUMA WILL NOW LEAD THE PARTY ALONGSIDE HIS SON IN ONE OF THE BIGGEST LEADERSHIP SHAKE-UPS SINCE THE PARTY’S FORMATION
The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has announced a major restructuring of its top leadership, appointing Duduzane Zuma as the party’s new First Deputy President.
The appointment means Duduzane will now serve directly under his father, former President Jacob Zuma, who remains the leader and President of the MK Party. The announcement forms part of a broader leadership reshuffle unveiled by the party.
As part of the changes, Dr John Hlophe has been removed from the position of First Deputy President and replaced by Duduzane Zuma. The MK Party says the leadership changes are aimed at strengthening the organisation as it prepares for future political activities.
The reshuffle is expected to generate significant political debate, with supporters welcoming Duduzane Zuma’s elevation while critics are likely to question the implications of father and son occupying the two highest positions in the party.
