JERABOS SUPPORT MUNDUBILE
In 2021, President Hakainde Hichilema made a significant pledge to the youth in the Copperbelt mine towns, promising that mineral dumpsites would be a resource for their benefit.
However, five years later, this promise remains unfulfilled.
Despite the optimism it generated, the anticipated opportunities for local youths to engage in mineral resource extraction from dumpsites have yet to materialize.
This gap between promises and tangible outcomes has fueled dissent among Copperbelt residents.
Amid this backdrop, Brian Mundubile, the presidential candidate for the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP), has positioned himself distinctly by emphasizing that all mineral dumpsites should exclusively serve the local youth. His stance is clear and firm: no foreign investors will be permitted to deal with dumpsites, ensuring that indigenous communities retain control over these valuable mineral resources.
Mundubile’s pledge has struck a chord with influential regional figures such as Kopala commander Cyme and other Copperbelt Jerabos, who have thrown their weight behind his campaign for the August 13 elections.
These supporters are not just passive endorsers; they are actively engaged on the ground, conducting door-to-door campaigns to rally community support and awareness.
Additionally, a notable commitment has emerged from Mundubile’s backing coalition—they vow to remain vigilant at polling stations until every ballot is counted.
