I BLAME GOD

With all due respect, I BLAME “GOD”.

By Bilon Kalumbinga | Lusaka, Zambia

I blame God for all these insults pastors who have gone into politics are receiving. All this disrespect. All this embarrassment they are going through – I blame God.

Kaili all of them say “God has called me into politics”!

And by the way, why is God doing this to Pentecostal pastors?
First he calls us into Ministry. Then, after a while, he comes back and says, “My son, I am now calling you into politics!”

With some, God goes further and says “Now you have two callings! You shall have one leg in politics and one leg in pastoring”!

With others, He says “Abandon church and focus on politics-your new calling”!

This God of Pentecostal pastors is amazing.

By the way, why does this God call them into ministry first then next into politics?

And why is God only calling Pentecostal pastors? Why not UCZ reverend? Why not RCZ reverends? Why not Anglican fathers? Why not Baptist reverends?

You see how strange and interesting this “God has called me into politics” is?

By the way, is it true that it is God calling us into politics or we are just hearing our own voices?

Please my Pentecostal pastor friends, let’s listen carefully when we think God is calling us. Because if God calls you into politics there will be success of a certain measure-you will win some seats at ward level (councillors) and at constituency level (Members of Parliament). Even at presidential level you can come out at number two, or at least even number three. But, nothing!

The founder of the UPND never claimed that God called him to politics and yet UPND always had councillors and Members of Parliament. Until they won the Presidency.

The founder of the Patriotic Front (PF)  never claimed that God called him to politics and yet the PF always had councillors and Members of Parliament.

But, why is it that those who are “called by God into politics” when they form political parties those parties fail to raise even one councillor or one member of Parliament?

Surely, something is missing somewhere. Something is not adding up

This kind of “God” amazes me. He calls his people from church (where the labourers are already few-Mathew 9:37) into politics and he sees them losing elections miserably, all the time! Why does he do this?

On the other hand, am I right in blaming God? Or, may be Iam wrong – Lesa wakaele. Tulemubepeshafya?

Big question: is it really good who is calling us, Pentecostal pastors, into politics? If so, why is he watching us fail to raise even one councillor or one Member of Parliament?

My Consistent Admonition: As pastors, let’s just stick to the pulpit. Should you desire to engage in active partisan politics, leave the position of pastor in church. Let another take over. Because you cannot be a full-time pastor and a full-time politician at the same time.

The Bembas were wise when they said, “Chimbwi afwile intangalala”. Jesus put it this way “You cannot serve two masters….”.

Matthew 6:24 AMP
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon [money, possessions, fame, status, or whatever is valued more than the Lord].
