RUSSIAN SOLDIERS REMOVED UNIFORM, JOIN CIVILIANS TO CROSS CRIMEA BRIDGE.
Russian civilians crossing the Crimean bridge on foot towards the Krasnodar region of Russia, were joined by starving Russian Soldiers, who removed their uniforms, after feeling abandoned because of lack of supplies.
They march in scattered and disorganized lines, clothed in civilian clothes, carrying heavy bags and ballots. The entire scene is filmed from above through the lens of what is described as a Ukrainian reconnaissance drone or helicopter.
This image immediately evokes photographs of people crossing under the bridge destroyed in Irpin at the beginning of the war.
“The balance of history always swings in reverse”… That line lands because war often creates mirror images. In 2022, the dominant visual was Ukrainians fleeing west/northwest from Russian advances. A 2026 scene of Russian civilians evacuating Crimea on foot would invert that direction of movement — east, into Russia proper.
