LUSAKA PASTOR, WITCH DOCTOR, ZNS AND FIVE OTHERS TO KNOW THEIR  FATE ON 30TH JUNE OVER ILLEGAL PANGOLIN

The Mazabuka Magistrate’s Court has set 30th June 2026 for judgement in a case involving eight people jointly charged with unlawful possession of a pangolin.



Among the accused are a Lusaka-based pastor, a police officer, and a traditional healer.

When the matter came up for judgement on Friday, Resident Magistrate Changa Chitabo adjourned it to 30th June after one of the defendants was absent due to illness.


The accused are Mandalena Banda, a pastor from Mutendere East, Ma-Plot area; Donevela Daka, a traditional healer from Chongwe; and Kapika Chomba, a police officer.

Others are James Banda, a Zambia National Service officer, Timothy Konkola, a businessman, Dennis Silungwe, a bricklayer, Alexander Kaushi, a businessman, and Charles Chali, a mechanic. All are from Lusaka



The eight face one count of unlawful possession of a protected animal trophy.

Particulars of the offence are that on 8th November 2025, the accused persons jointly, and acting together with others unknown, were found in possession of one live pangolin weighing 7 kilograms, without a certificate of ownership.



The court heard that the accused were arrested in Chikankata District while on their way to Monze to allegedly sell the pangolin for money multiplication rituals.
