Gary set to denounce and burn UPND regalia in Mazabuka, SG Imenda alleges
UPND Secretary General Batuke Imenda alleges that former Mazabuka member of Parliament Gary Nkombo has organised structures in the District to gather at an event he shall denounce the party and burn regalia in his possession.
And Imenda has called on Mazabuka Central electorates to support and vote for the UPND candidate and not an independent Nkombo.
In a statement issued last evening and made available to TV Yatu, Secretary General Imenda says by going independent, Gary Nkombo effectively ceased to represent the interests of the UPND.
“The party is also aware of information suggesting that Mr. Nkombo has been mobilizing individuals, including some members of party structures, to participate in a public event at which he reportedly intends to publicly denounce the party and its leadership by burning UPND regalia and other party materials in his possession;
“the alleged participants ought to be cautioned that doing so is a criminal offence,” Imenda says.
He has advised members of the public that Nkombo is no longer a member of the party and that therefore, he does not represent the interests of UPND
“We further urge all UPND members, structures and supporters to remain focused on the party’s objectives and to rally behind the duly adopted UPND candidate. The party remains committed to unity, discipline and the democratic values that have guided it over the years,” Imenda says.
He has called on party members to remain peaceful, respectful and committed to advancing the vision and development agenda of the UPND under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema.
