IMINGALATO: DISQUALIFY M’MEMBE AND RUNNING MATE
Isaac Mwanza and the Consortium of Civil Societies for Good Governance and Constitutionalism have filed a petition with the Lusaka High Court challenging the nominations of Socialist Party President Dr Fred M’membe and three Independent candidates.
The petition claims that Dr M’membe’s running mate, Ms Dolika Banda, lacks a valid G12 Certificate, and her equivalent foreign qualifications remain unverified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority.
The legal challenge seeks to disqualify both her and Dr M’membe.
Additionally, the petitioners are seeking to annul the nominations of Gary Nkombo, Miles Sampa, and Dr Chitalu Chilufya on the grounds that they have not resigned from their respective parties (UPND and PF).
They request declarations that the independent nominations are null and void and breach Article 51(a) of the Constitution.
The petition was submitted before the deadline for contesting validly accepted nominations, which is set for Thursday, May 28, 2026.
