UPND CADRES PULLED, SQUEEZED MY M@NH00D – ASPIRING COUNCILLOR CRIES

An aspiring UPND councillor for Kanchele Ward in Kazungula South Constituency, Relick Pumulo, has alleged that he was assaulted by fellow party cadres during a dispute over the filing of nominations.

Speaking from his hospital bed at the Livingstone University Teaching Hospital, Pumulo claimed that one of the officials involved in the altercation pulled and squeezed his private parts, leaving him in severe pain.

Pumulo said the incident happened on Friday after he was accused of blocking another aspiring candidate, Noel Kangumu, from filing nomination papers despite also allegedly possessing an adoption certificate for the ward.

“I am one of the aspiring candidates for council ward, among five others. The way this process was being handled this year by the party was that they used certain means of identifying rightful candidates. That included the Office of the President and the traditional leadership,” he said.

He further explained that confusion arose after more than one candidate reportedly received adoption certificates for the same ward, resulting in tensions among party supporters.

The matter has since sparked concern among party members in the constituency, with calls for the UPND leadership to address the confusion surrounding the adoption process.
