Secret Service Scrambles as Gunfire Erupts Near White House, Two Wounded

Two adults were shot and wounded Friday evening just blocks from the White House at 17th Street NW and Pennsylvania Avenue, triggering a swift lockdown as President Trump was inside the building.

Law enforcement and Secret Service teams moved fast, locking down the perimeter and neutralizing the threat. The lockdown was lifted once the area was secured, with the wounded rushed to area hospitals. No word yet on the shooter’s motive or identity, but the brazen attack right outside the president’s home raises fresh alarms about rising crime and security breakdowns in the nation’s capital.

President Trump remained safe throughout thanks to the rapid response by his protective detail and local forces.
