Trump’s Team Draws a Hard Red Line on Iran: No Nuclear Weapons, Open Strait of Hormuz

Secretary of State Marco Rubio delivered a no-nonsense message to the mullahs and the world: President Trump demands real concessions or else.

In remarks at the NATO foreign ministers meeting in Helsingborg, Sweden, Rubio laid out America’s firm conditions for any deal with Iran. The core demands are crystal clear—free navigation through the vital Strait of Hormuz and complete abandonment of Iran’s nuclear weapons ambitions.

Rubio stated: “We all would love to see an agreement with Iran in which the Straits are open and they abandon their nuclear ambitions and so forth… their nuclear weapons ambitions.”

He emphasized that Trump prefers peace through strength but won’t tolerate weakness or delays. Rubio warned that any Iranian attempt to impose a tolling system on the strait is “completely illegal” and “unacceptable.” It would “make a diplomatic deal unfeasible” and threaten global trade, as the strait carries about a quarter of the world’s oil.

Rubio added: “If we can’t get a good deal, the president’s been clear. He has other options.”

This is America First in action—protecting energy security, stopping nuclear proliferation, and refusing to let a rogue regime hold the world hostage. No more weak Obama-style handouts that embolden terrorists. Trump and Rubio are sending the message loud and clear: Iran must comply or face consequences. The days of empty diplomacy are over.
