LUSAKA – Aspiring MP for Lima Constituency David Kakoma has withdrawn from the race and endorsed Tonse Alliance candidate Kelvin Kaunda, saying unity must come before personal ambition.
Kakoma said the decision followed consultations with churches, community leaders, youth groups, and residents across the constituency.
“This decision has not been easy, considering the love, support, and encouragement I have received,” he said in a statement yesterday.
He said he was stepping aside to preserve unity within the opposition bloc.
“As I promised from the beginning, unity and the greater interest of our movement must always come first,” Kakoma said.
Kakoma pledged full support to Kaunda, Tonse Alliance presidential candidate Brian Mundubile, and running mate Makebi Zulu.
He urged supporters to remain peaceful and focused on the alliance’s goal.
“My commitment to serving Lima remains strong,” he said.
“I call on all supporters to back the alliance’s campaign.”
