COURT RULES AGAINST MILES SAMPA
Lusaka High Court Judge Conceptor Zulu has thrown out an application by Matero MP Miles Sampa, who was arguing that the judge had no right to give Morgan Ng’ona a temporary court order (injunction) while the case is being appealed.
In her ruling, Judge Zulu explained that even though the High Court had earlier dismissed Mr. Ng’ona’s main case because of delays in moving it forward, the court still has the legal power to freeze things. She said this temporary order is necessary to protect the situation so that by the time the higher court (Court of Appeal) looks at the matter, the whole appeal hasn’t been made useless.
Mr. Sampa had argued that because the High Court already threw out the main case, the judge’s job was completely finished and she could no longer make any new orders. He claimed the protection order Mr. Ng’ona got was illegal because it was applied for after the case had already been dismissed.
However, Judge Zulu disagreed with Sampa, ruling that the application was done properly and is valid. She has ordered both sides to bring more evidence regarding the remaining arguments and has set May 27, 2026, as the date to hear the next round of arguments.
In this ongoing battle, Mr. Ng’ona is fighting his removal as Patriotic Front (PF) Secretary General and the dissolving of the party’s top committee, arguing that Miles Sampa had absolutely no authority to fire him or dissolve the committee.
