GOVERNMENT CONDEMNS MALICIOUS FAKE VIDEO INVOLVING THE PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT
The Government has noted with serious concern a manipulated, fake video circulating on various social media platforms, falsely suggesting that President Hakainde Hichilema has facilitated the arrest of the Vice President, Her Honour Mrs. W.K. Mutale Nalumango.
The Government categorically dismisses this video as a total fabrication and malicious propaganda. It is entirely false and intended to manufacture discord, cause public alarm, and undermine the unity of the Republican leadership. Both the Office of the President and the Office of the Vice President remain fully functional, with the leaders continuing to work together harmoniously in the service of the nation.
We strongly warn members of the public to immediately desist from creating, sharing, or forwarding this and any other unverified and fake content. Zambia is a constitutional democracy governed by sufficient laws, including the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act.
Law enforcement agencies will not hesitate to ensure that the full wrath of the law visits any individuals found abusing cyberspace to spread misinformation.
As the country heads towards the August General Election, the Zambia Police Service and relevant authorities remain on high alert. Anyone attempting to cause trouble, stir up public unrest, or champion anarchy through the propagation of falsehoods will be decisively dealt with.
We appeal to citizens to act with responsibility, maintain peace, and rely only on official, credible government channels for information.
