EVEN WITH 40 PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES, HH WILL STILL WIN WITH 6.5 MILLION VOTES – PAUL MOONGA
United Party for National Development (UPND) member Paul Moonga has expressed confidence that President Hakainde Hichilema and the ruling party will secure 6.5 million votes in the forthcoming elections dismissing opposition presidential aspirants whom he claims will receive less than 0.5 percent of the vote.
Speaking in an interview with Sun FM TV News, Mr. Moonga said the opposition is not a threat to the UPND, even with as many as 40 presidential aspirants on the ballot arguing that the party’s performance over the past five years has raised the standard of leadership in the country.
Mr Moonga further stated that projections suggesting President Hichilema would get 5 million votes are an underestimation adding that the UPND is confident of winning a majority of seats at all levels, including councilor, mayoral, and parliamentary positions
.
He also pointed to what he described as unprecedented defections of opposition Members of Parliament to the ruling party, saying this, along with President Hichilema going unopposed at the UPND general assembly, is evidence that the party has delivered.
