Chivayo Responds to “Person of Interest” Claims
Businessman Wicknell Chivayo has dismissed allegations circulating on social media linking him to reports surrounding South African President Cyril Ramaphosa’s recent private visit to Zimbabwe.
Chivayo denied being wanted in Zimbabwe, South Africa or any other country, saying he has continued to travel freely through official immigration channels.
He also defended his presence among businesspeople who welcomed Ramaphosa during the visit, saying individuals who interact with heads of state undergo security vetting and clearance procedures.
Addressing speculation involving his younger brother, businessman Joacham Chivayo, he said any legal matters involving his sibling were personal and separate from him.
Chivayo further rejected allegations linked to Zimbabwe’s 2023 election procurement processes, saying he had no involvement in the supply of election materials to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission and that previous investigations had cleared him of wrongdoing.
He also referenced his ongoing divorce proceedings in South Africa, describing them as a private civil matter.
The statement comes amid increased scrutiny on social media following Ramaphosa’s recent visit to Zimbabwe and renewed discussion around business and political links in the region.
