21 YEAR OLD MERCY MWAKESA APPEARS IN MUFULIRA MAGISTRATE COURT FOR PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES
21-year-old Mercy Mwakesa from Ndeke, in Mufulira District, on the Copperbelt, has appeared before Magistrate Mercy Chabu at the Mufulira Magistrate Court today.
Mwakesa is facing allegations of producing and distributing pornographic material on social media.
The charges stem from incidents that allegedly occurred between May 1 and May 14, 2024. Mwakesa, who is currently in her eleventh grade, made her first court appearance today June 5th, 2024 where her plea was not taken.
In her initial appearance, Mwakesa requested bail to allow her to continue her education, the court granted her a K10, 000 cash bail, with the conditions that she provide two government working sureties, not interfere with the evidence, and avoid contact with witnesses.
Mwakesa’s second court appearance is scheduled for June 18, 2024, as the court awaits consent from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to commence the case.
