THREE HOSPITALISED AFTER K100 WORTH KACHASU DRINKING COMPETITION
THREE men of Nakambala Compound in Mazabuka are battling for their lives at Mazabuka General hospital after drinking a local brew called Kachasu, otherwise Maureen Mukiya.
The men fell victim following a drinking competition at a joint at Nakambala Market, Sunday afternoon, in which they were eyeing to win a K100 set aside for the individual who could finish 5 litres of the illicit local spirit.
An eyewitness narrates to Byta FM News that none of the three men managed to complete the challenge as they became unconscious after drinking four litres of the intoxicating beverage.
Onlookers are said to have rushed the victims to Mazabuka General Hospital where they are receiving treatment.
And a well-placed source at Mazabuka General Hospital has disclosed that two of the three men have been placed on oxygen support, with the other one in a stable condition.
Meanwhile, Nakambala Market Committee Chairperson, Ackim Saboi, who confirmed development to Byta FM News, has described development as unfortunate and appealed for regulation of the brew.
