RESUMPTION OF THE FOURTH SESSION OF THE THIRTEENTH NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
THE Clerk of the National Assembly of Zambia, Mr. Roy Ngulube, would like to inform the public that the Fourth Session of the Thirteenth National Assembly, which adjourned sine die on Friday, 6th December, 2024 will resume on Tuesday, 11th February, 2025, at 14:30 hours.
This meeting which is referred to as the Legislative Meeting, is the second meeting on the Parliamentary Calendar and is primarily focused on the legislative process, which is the procedure that a proposed law, or bill, goes through to become law in a Parliament.
The previous meeting, which was mainly a Budget approval meeting was dedicated to presentation and approval of the National Budget. One of the major highlights of the previous meeting was that the National Assembly rolled-out Sector Budget Analysis which was piloted in 2022 and 2023.
The introduction of Sector Budget Analysis facilitated the involvement of portfolio and general purposes committees in the scrutiny of budgets for Heads of Expenditure or sectors under their purview or as allocated by the Right Honourable Madam Speaker.
The Clerk is also encouraging citizens and various stakeholders to take interest in the proceedings and actively participate by making submissions through various committees of the House.
The Clerk is further encouraging stakeholders and the general public to follow the live proceedings on the following platforms: Parliament Radio; Parliament TV on Top Star Channel 5; DSTV Channel 272 and GOTV Channel 100 ; National Assembly of Zambia Facebook page; and Parliament Website streaming (www.Parliament.gov.zm).
