SEAN TEMBO DEMANDS K50M FROM LEVY NGOMA IN ABDUCTION CASE
Patriots for Economic Progress-PeP President, Sean Tembo, has filed a counter demand letter, requesting 50 Million Kwacha damages from President Hakainde Hichilema’s Special Assistant for Politics, Levy Ngoma.
This was after Lawyers representing Ngoma and two other United Party for National Development-UPND officials had demanded 5 Million Kwacha from Tembo and others for alleged criminal defamation.
The complaint against Tembo is in light of a statement he made on 2nd June, 2024, calling on the Zambia Police to arrest the individuals who had been named as being involved in the abduction of Emmanuel Banda as revealed by his Lawyer, Sakwiba Sikota.
Those accused of having abducted Banda are Levy Ngoma, Clayson Hamasaka and Trevor Mwiinde.
The demand letter was submitted and received on Tuesday afternoon by Chanza Sikazwe Advocates who are representing the trio, Tembo also sought a retraction and apology within 72 hours for the injury caused to his reputation.
Earlier, Tembo had charged that his earlier request for the three individuals alleged to be connected to the abduction of Banda to be arrested does not amount to criminal defamation as it is neither false nor defamatory.
He had stated that the named persons were fingered by Banda as being involved in his abduction, with Parliamentarian’s Lawyer, Sakwiba Sikota, sounding the same sentiments publicly.
Tembo added that Ngoma and his colleagues are not entitled to any compensation as he was never defamed, stating that he is looking forward to meeting them in court.
