POULTRY ASSOCIATION OF ZAMBIA JUSTIFIES CURRENT SHORTAGE OF GAGA
By Nonhlanhla Phuti

The Poultry Association of Zambia has justified the current shortage of chicken feed commonly known as “gaga” in some parts of the country.

Association Executive Director Dominic Chanda says the shortage is a normal trend around this time of the year adding that there are so many factors that affect the availability of the commodity on the market.

Mr Chanda has attributed the shortage of gaga is due to the high demand of the product by neighboring countries and the fact that Zambia did not have enough maize in the 2021/2022 harvest season among other factors.

He has since encouraged poultry farmers to use commercial layer feed or commercial broiler feed which is in excess on the market.
