POLICE SWING INTO ACTION AFTER PRESIDENTIAL ORDER DETAINE 5 UPND CADRES FOR AGGREVATED ROBBERY

Following President Hakainde Hichilema’s directive to bring to book some Cadres who terrorized motorists and Bauleni Residents during the burial of UPND Lusaka Province offical Brian Mizinga, the Police swing into action and have since detained five suspects linked to the thuggery.

President Hichilema strongly spoke against thuggery by some Cadres posing aa his Supporters. He said he would not tolerate such violent unruly behavior in the name of supporting him.

The President uncommon of politicians said he would not want to be a president voted by such thuggery behavior.

He charged that those who were exhibiting such violent behavior with the view that they will vote for him were on their own and that he doesn’t need such votes.

President Hichilema said if the police were failing to deal with such thuggery individuals he would deploy the Army. He said he had a responsibility to ensure peace in the country.

Following this directive the Police in a statement below disclosed that they had detained five people in a massive crackdown operation.

Massive Crackdown Operation following the unrest that occurred in Bauleni Compound of Lusaka

June 7, 2024-Following the recent unrest in Bauleni Compound on June 4, 2024, Lusaka, before the burial of Mr. Bryan Mizinga, a notable party official from Kanyama Compound, the Zambia Police Service launched a massive crackdown operation. The operation commenced at midnight of June 4, 2024 and aimed to restore order and apprehend those responsible for the chaos.
Police have so far successfully apprehended the following individuals:

1. Namushi Muketoi aged 31, of an unmarked house in Young Star, Old Kanyama Compound, Lusaka. Mr. Muketoi has been detained in relation to the offence of aggravated robbery.
2. Beatrice Mulemeli, aged 49, of Old Kanyama Compound, Lusaka. Ms. Mulemeli has been detained in relation to the offence of aggravated robbery.
3. Mooya Nchimunya, aged 39, of an unmarked house in Kanono area, Old Kanyama Compound, Lusaka. Mr. Nchimunya has been detained in relation to the offence of aggravated robbery..
4. Kelvin Chiwala, aged 32, of an unmarked house in Loveness Corner, New Kanyama Compound, Lusaka. Mr. Chiwala has been detained in relation to the offence of unlawful wounding.
5. James Banda of unmarked house in kanyama. He has been detained in relation to the offence of aggravated robbery.
These apprehensions mark a significant step in our ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in our communities. The Zambia Police Service remains committed to upholding the law and ensuring the safety of all citizens.
