NYIMBA FISHING CAMP GOES UP IN FLAMES

A devastating fire at the Nyimba Fishing Camp in the Kafue Flats, Zambia, has destroyed homes and displaced around 200 families, reports Zambian Eye Correspondent.

The inferno has left the families in desperate need of assistance. Tragically, the fire also claimed the life of a child.

The fire, which is believed to have started in a hut where fishmongers were smoke-drying their assortment, quickly engulfed the camp and left many families with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

In response to the crisis, the Bweengwa Constituency Development Fund Committee has mobilized essential supplies, including 200 bags of breakfast mealie meal, 200 bottles of cooking oil, and 10 bags of salt, to help support the affected families.

Committee Chairperson Mauldling Chiila emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating that an emergency meeting was called to address the immediate needs of those impacted by the fire.
