NINE PUPILS DISCHARGED AFTER ALLEGED SCHOOL GASSING INCIDENT IN NAKONDE
All nine learners who were allegedly gassed at Ntindi Secondary School in Nakonde have been discharged from Nakonde Urban Clinic and are stable.
The pupils were affected during class time in a Grade 9 class when unknown individuals allegedly released an unknown substance in the classroom.
The incident led to a stampede, with many pupils struggling to open their eyes.
Nine pupils were severely affected and received treatment at the clinic, with four requiring drips.
Following the incident, parents rushed to the clinic, with some expressing concern over the school’s incomplete infrastructure, particularly the lack of glass panes in the windows.
Nakonde District Commissioner Marvelous Sikapizye and District Director of Education Services Hitami Kaala confirmed the discharge of the pupils and assured parents that the school is safe.
