NATIONAL ASSEMBLY CONDEMNS POISONING ALLEGATIONS MADE BY MP MUNIR ZULU

The National Assembly has expressed concern over allegations made by Lumezi Constituency Independent Member of Parliament, Munir Zulu, who claimed that the food he ordered at the National Assembly Motel on Monday may have been laced with poison.

In a statement, National Assembly Senior Media Liaison Officer Nshamba Muzungu described Mr. Zulu’s allegations as both alarming and irresponsible, emphasizing that such claims could damage the reputation of the motel and the institution as a whole.

“The National Assembly of Zambia takes seriously any unsubstantiated allegations that may harm the credibility of our services,” Mr. Muzungu said. He also reassured the public that the National Assembly Motel maintains strict food hygiene procedures to ensure the safety of all meals served.

Mr. Muzungu advised the Lumezi parliamentarian to refrain from making unfounded accusations, particularly given his prominent role in society.

The controversy arose after Mr. Zulu refused to consume a soup he had ordered, insisting that the waiter taste the food in his presence, a request that was denied. He later posted on his Facebook page, suggesting that the food might have been poisoned.
