MINISTRY OF JUSTICE CONCLUDES AWARENESS ON CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT IN SIX PROVINCES

The Ministry of Justice has successfully completed a multi- stakeholder’s consultative awareness and sensitisation tour across six provinces on the constitution of Zambia (Amendment) Bill of 2025 by engaging citizens.

Minister of Justice, Princess Kasune explains that the objective of the tour was to interact with all the people to gather views and feedback on the 13 proposed provisions drawn from previous Constitutional Review Commissions and other Constitution review processes.

Ms Kasune says the proposed amendments aim to enhance inclusive democracy and good governance in the country.

Princess Kasune explains that the Ministry recognises that all voices matter, but points out that the will of the majority of Zambians must ultimately prevail.

She is elated that the feedback received from the six provinces indicates strong support for the proposed clauses in the Constitution of Zambia Amendment Bill
2025, particularly those clauses that will empower historically underrepresented groups.

Among the provinces visited were Central, North-western, Luapula, Northern, Muchinga, and Eastern respectively.

The Minister is pleased with the overwhelming response from Chiefs, other traditional leaders, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), the media, and the general public in all the provinces visited.

This is according to a statement made available to ZANIS in Lusaka by Ministry of Justice Principal Public Relations Officer, Joe Nkadaani.
