LUSAMBO’S LAWYERS ORDERED TO FILE WRITTEN SUBMISSIONS

FORMER Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo’s lawyers have been directed to file written submissions after arguing that his proceeds of crime case should be dismissed. Lusaka Chief Resident Davies Chibwili issued the order following oral submissions by defense lawyer Nkula Botha.

Botha contended that Lusambo’s case must be dismissed because the prosecution has failed to file his charge sheet before the court since his arrest and charging in January 2022. Botha cited Statutory Instrument Number 10 of 2024, rule two, in support of his argument.

Lusambo has denied allegations that his properties in Lusaka’s Chamba Valley were acquired using proceeds of crime.

He testified that he purchased the properties using income from his private sector jobs and business deals before entering politics. Specifically, he mentioned working as a Carnival Furnisher Sales Representative between 2008 and 2009, earning a monthly salary and commission of K30,000.
