LUSAKA LAWYER URGES GOVERNMENT TO ACCORD MUSICIAN DANDY KRAZY AN OFFICIAL FUNERAL
Lusaka-based Lawyer Dickson Jere has urged the government to accord Musician Dandy Krazy an official funeral.
Jere stated that Wesley Chibambo, also known as Dandy Krazy, had died at the age of 47.
He mentioned that Dandy Krazy had touched many souls in Zambia.
Jere remarked that Dandy Krazy made people dance to his music and laugh with his unique language.
He described him as a person one could not afford to hate, always jovial and bringing the nation together through music and art.
Jere emphasised that when such a person passes on, they need to be honoured and appreciated by the nation.
He argued that the recognition of official funerals should not be limited to politicians alone.
Jere suggested expanding the category of official funeral beneficiaries to include individuals from academia, sports, arts, and music.
He believed that people who have made a significant impact in the country, regardless of their field, should be honoured.
Jere specifically mentioned that politicians should not be the only ones receiving such honours.
He expressed his opinion that Chibambo deserved an official funeral and should be mourned as a hero in music.
Jere hoped that the authorities would exercise their discretion and grant him this national honour.
He clarified that he was referring to an official funeral and not a state funeral, as the latter has a written policy stipulating the entitled persons.
Jere noted that official funerals could be granted at the state’s discretion, allowing the state to cover funeral expenses and assist with burial arrangements.
