LUNGU’S BODYGUARD CHISENGA CHANDA’S CASE ADJOURNED DUE TO FORMER PRESIDENT’S PASSING

The Lusaka High Court has adjourned the case involving Chisenga Chanda, former Aid De Camp to late President Edgar Lungu, to June 20 or June 27, following the news of Lungu’s death. Chanda’s lawyer informed the court that his client was at Lungu’s bedside in South Africa and had returned there upon learning of the former president’s passing.

Chanda is accused of being an accessory after the fact to the murder of UPND cadre Lawrence Banda, allegedly assisting the convicted suspect Shebby Chilekwa. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The court extended its condolences to Chanda and the nation, adjourning the matter due to the circumstances.
