LUNGU, SENIOR PF OFFICIALS WON’T ATTEND ELIGIBILITY HEARING

PF MCC held a meeting at CRESTA lodge chaired by Given Lubinda and attended by about 17 members specifically to strategies ahead of judgement in ecl’s eligibility case. The meeting resolved the following:

1. That since former President Edgar Lungu would not be personally present at the courts along with his lawyers, the senior party memebers and supporters could also stay away, especially that it was clear that the outcome was predetermined against Mr Lungu;

2. that MCCa and party members should converge at one place were they would be watching the live proceedings from after to allow the party issue a statement condemning the outcome and guide supporters on the way forward as they expect some member in various party to react from various areas. Tentatively, the context of the statement would be also state that since the case of eligibility has been opened by the concourt, the party still has the chance to challenge/petition tomorrow’s ruling in the concourt and this could be done repeatedly in an attempt to ensure Ecl was allowed.

3. that ECL would also hold a press briefing as he returns, tentatively on Friday 13th December, 2024, uniquely to be attended foreign media houses, among them, Ajazeera, BBC, and CNN during which he will descredit the judgement and declare his eligibility and in this sense, declare that HE and his government were dictatorial and undemocratic by weaponizing all state institutions such as the judiciary, legislature against him and the opposition;

4. that the party should lodge a complaint against concourt judges, in their individual capacities, to the African Court of Justice and Human Rights and also another complaint against President HH and his government to the International Court of Justice citing abuse of ecl’s human rights and other opposition leaders who were allegedly being persecuted;

5. that they try to advise supporters not to turn up at courts to avoid being beaten by the police and other security agencies who are expected to deploy heavily but instead gather within various communities.

Furthermore, the meeting briefly discussed situation in on going kawambwa by elections during which it was generally felt the party had a high chance of winning due to the good work ecl was doing and as such, they should turn up in numbers to give back up to the former president’s efforts. Among those present were; nkandu luo, Davis mwila, rapahael nakachinda
