João Cancelo desires a longer stay with Barcelona

João Cancelo has expressed his desire to continue his tenure at Barcelona even after the conclusion of his loan spell this season.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta recently had a meeting with super-agent Jorge Mendes, who represents Cancelo along with his Portugal teammate and fellow loanee at Barça, João Félix.

Both Cancelo and Félix are currently on loan from Manchester City and Atlético Madrid, respectively.

Laporta has previously indicated the club’s interest in making their loan deals permanent.

However, given the financial constraints at the Catalan club, they may need to explore creative solutions to retain the services of both players for the upcoming season.

During the presentation of Ronald Araújo’s new documentary, Cancelo was asked by reporters if he hoped to stay at Camp Nou next season.

He promptly replied with a resounding “yes” before departing from the event.
