IMF CAUSING FUEL PUMP PRICE HIKES – SICHONE
CITIZENS First Party Spokesperson, Frank Sichone, has charged that the continued hike in fuel prices is a result of Government’s adherence to conditions set by external entities such as the International Monetary Fund-IMF.
Reacting to the latest hike in fuel prices, Sichone has questioned why Government is not subsiding the product to cushion Zambians and safeguard the failing economy.
He predicts that fuel prices will continue rising as long as there is no long-term plan such as increasing reserves and making Indeni operational through purchase of a new Carbon Cracker.
Sichone emphasizes the need to regulate fuel prices as the commodity affects how much other products and services such as food and transport will cost.
He questions why Government is quick to increase the price of fuel but does not do the same for Civil Servant salaries to enable them cope with the high cost of living.
Sichone suggests that President Hichilema resigns as it is evident that he has failed to manage the escalating cost of living.
